Program Description

Event Details

In partnership with the Westchester Public Library and Wisconsin’s Marinette County Libraries, join us for the 150th anniversary of the Great Chicago Fire and the Peshtigo Fire, which occurred on the same day. Western Springs’ Deputy Fire Chief is moderating a discussion between a historian at the Peshtigo Fire Museum, and a curator from the Chicago History Museum.

While the Great Chicago Fire is better known, the Peshtigo Fire is the deadliest wildfire in recorded history. Over 1,500 people lost their lives and 1.2 million acres of land were destroyed.
