More Than a Month is a series of library-hosted events designed to help us learn how to recognize issues of systemic oppression and find opportunities to grow into a more equitable and inclusive community. We are focusing on Black history and experiences in American society.

This month, we are proud to host a virtual screening of the independent documentary Black Men in White Coats by Dr. Dale Okorodudu in partnership with Bellwood Public Library, Hillside Public Library, North Riverside Public Library, Brookfield Public Library, and Blue Island Public Library. Film synopsis:  "Fewer black men applied to medical school in 2014 than in 1978 and black men have the lowest life expectancy in the United States. The documentary explores how health care, the national economy, and the lives of all citizens would benefit if our medical workforce better reflected the diversity of our population."

The virtual screening will be available for you to watch independently at a time of your choosing anytime between Monday May 24 at 6:30 p.m. through Thursday, May 27 at 6:30 p.m. Visit https://indiescreening.com/screenings/324 and enter your email to receive access to the online screening.

No registration is necessary through the Library's calendar, but we would appreciate if you would complete the registration as a courtesy for our statistics. Thank you!
